The global objective of this 9-month project is to contribute to enhance Istanbul’s role as a cultural catalyst amongst its geopolitical neighbours, strengthening bonds and fostering sustainable collaboration amongst artistic and cultural milieu between Europe and Turkey.
The specific objectives of our Project are:
- to support musical activities in order to help Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture to fulfil its role on its way towards 2010
- to demonstrate Istanbul’s cultural legacy and its cultural capacity in building up the metropolis’ future through musical organizations and exchange programmes between Istanbul and Pori
- Promoting networking activities and sustainable partnerships through meeting of the Finnish and Turkish cultures and musical elements via professional musicians, young musicians, kids, and audiences
- Awareness raising, facilitating dialogue and mutual understanding by informing and integrating kids and youngsters of both countries through music and presenting the culture of both countries to them,
- Promoting innovative initiatives, ideas and productions through introduction of ethnic instruments (drums, cymbals, ney, and kantele) to both cultures both via performers and luthiers
Expected results of the project are:
- Transnational mobility of musical operators is promoted,
- Transnational circulation of cultural and musical works and products is supported,
- Exchange of knowledge and best practices in the field of music is promoted
